Prepare for your Bend Home Energy Score

You are on your way to learning how your home performs. In this short post we walk you through the appointment and the tasks you can do prior to your energy score assessment.

Prior to your home energy score assessor arrival you can do the following to assure your assessment is completed as efficiently as possible.

  • Make sure your crawl space or basement is easily accessible .
  • If you have an attic, make sure that it's accessible. Clear away anything that would prevent your assessor from using a ladder to access.
  • Clear any items near or around your HVAC and water heater systems.

During your appointment you can expect that your entire home is accessed to gather all of the information necessary to score your home energy score.

Here are some of the specific activities that are completed during your assessment:

  • All windows are measured
  • all rooms and spaces are measured
  • Pictures are taken of your windows, heating and cooling systems, and exterior surfaces
  • Your attic, basement, crawlspace and any other area that contains insulation or duct work are accessed.
  • Your heating, cooling, and water heating systems are examined.
  • An exterior outlet cover is removed to examine insulation in the wall

Upon completion of your assessment your home energy score assessor will review all data collected and input that data into the department of energy's home energy score calculator.

Once your home energy score has been input into the DOE home energy scoring tool you will receive an email invoice from getmyhes.com for payment. Once your payment is received you will receive another email with a pdf copy of your home energy score, your GBR ID that you can input
